JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcycle fire closed lanes of Interstate 295 north of Commonwealth Avenue Tuesday night.
A 2002 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling northbound on I-295 when it caught fire. An off-duty Florida Highway Patrol trooper stopped the motorcyclist who became aware of the fire and laid his bike down in the roadway.

The trooper used her fire extinguisher to reduce the fire until Jacksonville Fire Rescue arrived on the scene. The driver, Stacey Thompkins, was not injured.
All northbound lanes of the highway were blocked around 10 p.m. The lanes have since reopened.
