NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A single-car accident early Sunday morning in Nassau County left a passenger dead and the driver seriously injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Daniel Ray Cowert, 48, of Fernandina Beach, died Sunday when the car he was riding in overturned On Black Rock Road near A1A.

The car was traveling northbound on Black Rock Road when the it ran off the road and overturned multiple times, seriously injuring the driver and killing the Cowert, FHP said.
The driver, from Yulee, was taken to UF Health at Jacksonville for treatment, FHP said.
The driver's name is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.
