The first crash involved an overturned semi on I-10, after US 301. The driver, Pasternak Zygmunt, 68, of Wildwood, Illinois, was sent to an area hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the semi-truck was traveling eastbound on I-10, just after US-301, when the truck veered off the road and collided with a speed limit sign. Zygmunt drove back onto the roadway then overturned on its left side and blocked all eastbound lanes of travel.

Zygmunt was charged with careless driving, according to the FHP report.

The second crash happened around 5:25 a.m.

According to the FHP, Ray Kendall McCauley, 30, rear-ended 61-year-old Franklin White's semi truck. White was stopped in congestion caused by the first crash.

McCauley was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries, authorities said.

The car and semis were removed around 7:45 a.m., allowing officials to reopen all lanes.

Traffic was backed up for nearly two hours.
