BALDWIN, Fla. – Spilled milk after the collision of three tractor-trailers kept the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 for more than six hours Tuesday.
Hundreds of milk cartons tumbled from one a semi's trailer after the 6:45 a.m. crash near the U.S. 301 exit. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said there were injuries, but had to detour westbound traffic at Cecil Commerce Center Parkway (State Road 23) to U.S. 90 (Beaver Street) until well past noon.

According to the accident report, the incident began when a Freightliner driven by a Deltona man was having a mechanical problem and began merging toward the emergency lane. A second big rig collided with the trailer of the first rig, then a third rig ran into the collision in front of it.
Sky4 aerials showed hundreds of cartons scattered across the highway. Bobcat equipment was brought in to scoop up the spilled products, and several tow trucks had to come haul the semis away after some of them broke into pieces on impact.
Part of the cleanup involved making the road safe to drive, which crews accomplished by spreading what appeared to be cat litter or something similar along the roadway.
The FHP report said charges are pending in the crash.
