JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Firefighters battled a fuel tanker fire on westbound Interstate 10 westbound near Hammond Boulevard early Thursday morning. The tanker was carrying 6,000 gallons of gasoline and 2,500 gallons of diesel when flames sparked.

The fire ignited a 6:15 a.m. and was extinguished about 20 minutes later. The driver was not injured, a spokesperson for JFRD confirmed.
All westbound lanes of I-10 at Hammond were closed while crews transferred the fuel. The interstate was reopened after 8 a.m.
