JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 301 at Normandy Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to the Highway Patrol, a sedan was traveling west on Normandy Boulevard about 2 p.m. when it approached the intersection at U.S. 301 and then began crossing the northbound lanes of U.S. 301. That’s when, according to troopers, a commercial truck traveling north on U.S. 301 struck the driver’s door area of the sedan.

The Highway Patrol said the driver of the sedan, a 39-year-old Jacksonville man, died at the scene. According to an FHP news release, he was not wearing a seat belt.
Troopers said the driver of the truck, a 34-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach man, was not injured.
Authorities said the crash closed multiple lanes of U.S. 301.
