Police activity on the Mathews Bridge closed all lanes in both directions, causing major delays Friday morning.
Drivers were encouraged to find alternate routes across the St. Johns River.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office did not provide details about the police activity but sent an alert just before 9 a.m. that said the bridge would be closed “until further notice.”
