Officer, another driver injured in crash at Philips & Emerson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SUV was involved in a crash Thursday evening at the intersection of Philips Highway and Emerson Street.

According to JSO, a dark-colored midsized SUV that was northbound on Philips Highway failed to stop for the officer’s SUV, which had its emergency equipment activated. The crash was reported at 6:16 p.m. as the officer was headed to a another crash with injuries.

The officer’s SUV was headed east on Emerson Street and slowed at the intersection with Philips Highway when the dark-colored SUV hit the passenger’s side of the marked JSO SUV, police said. The collision pushed the JSO vehicle into another vehicle that was stopped in the westbound lanes on Emerson Street.

The officer and the driver of the other SUV were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
