JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed and a 23-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Thursday night when a box truck drove into their path on Philips Highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to the FHP report, the motorcyclists were headed north in the right lane on Philips Highway, just south of Lenoir Avenue, at about 10:20 p.m. when a box truck turning from Philips Highway southbound onto Lenoir Avenue crossed in front of them.

Troopers said the 64-year-old man from Lake Mary who was driving the box truck did not see the motorcycles coming.
Both motorcycles slammed into the right side of the box truck.
The 29-year-old died at the scene and the 23-year-old was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Both men are from Orange Park, and the report said they were wearing helmets.
The driver of the box truck, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
The report did not indicate if charges would be filed.
