Semi loaded with paint overturns on I-95 NB, blocking all lanes north of CR 210 for nearly 5 hours during morning rush

An overturned semi on I-95 northbound shut down all lanes for more than four hours during the Thursday morning rush (WJXT)

An overturned semi caused major traffic backups on I-95 northbound early Thursday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 5 a.m. the tractor-trailer, which was loaded with paint, was headed north on I-95, north of County Road 210 when a red transit van in front of it slowed down for unknown reasons.

The 40-year-old driver of the semi couldn’t slow down in time and his right front bumper hit the left rear bumper of the van.

The semi driver swerved left, hitting the center median guardrail and then rotating right as it overturned, landing across the northbound lanes of I-95.

Neither driver was hurt.

All lanes of I-95 northbound were shut down for nearly five hours for the extensive cleanup, and traffic was diverted off the highway at CR 210 and at International Golf Parkway.

The road reopened around 9:45 a.m.
