FDOT begins resurfacing, other projects on San Jose Boulevard; Lanes won’t close during rush hours

You can ask questions at an open house meeting Monday from 4:30-6 p.m. in Mandarin

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Work began Monday on a pair of road improvement projects along San Jose Boulevard that include a resurfacing project between Sunbeam Road and I-295 and interchange improvements.

But the Florida Department of Transportation said there will not be any lane closures between 6 a.m. or 8 p.m. any day of the week on the heavily traveled thoroughfare.

But early construction will have drivers see the speed drop down to 35 mph along San Jose as FDOT resurfaces San Jose Boulevard from Sunbeam Road to I-295.

The second, companion project will add capacity to the ramp from San Jose Boulevard to I-295 North.

The $16.8 million project will also include drainage improvements, curbs and gutters, traffic signals, lighting, highway signing, and sidewalks/bicycle paths.

The project is expected to wrap up in early 2026.

If you want to learn more about this project, FDOT is hosting an in-person open house Monday night from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Jacksonville Public Library South Mandarin Branch on San Jose Boulevard.

You can also participate in the meeting virtually. Just click here for the link to register.
