LAKE CITY, Fla. – A driver died Monday afternoon in a multi-car crash at Northwest Centurion Court and U.S. 90 that left traffic snarled for hours on U.S. 90 and I-75, the Lake City Police said.
According to police, at about 1 p.m. Monday, the driver was headed east on U.S. 90, approaching Northwest Centurion Court, less than a block from I-75, when they slammed into the back of another car, pushing it onto the sidewalk.

The driver of the car that was rear-ended suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the initial car kept going and made a left turn onto Northwest Centurion Court, sideswiping a third vehicle, police said. That driver was not hurt.
Again, the driver of the first car kept going, speeding down Northwest Centurion Court until it slammed into an empty parked car, police said.
The driver who struck the three other cars suffered fatal injuries, police said.
They did not release the driver’s name, age or gender.
Lake City Police thanked several other agencies for helping respond to the crash and assist with traffic control. The incident caused major traffic congestion in the area of U.S. 90 and I-75 for several hours on Monday.
News4JAX reached out to the Lake City Police Department after learning the driver might have been suffering a medical emergency during the crash. Police said they could not confirm that information because the investigation is still pending.
