According to FHP, preliminary investigation revealed that when the 41-year-old woman tried to make a left turn into a parking lot, she crashed into the driver’s side of the second SUV, which was traveling in the opposite direction.

Troopers said as a result of that crash, the SUV spun in a counter-clockwise motion. As it was spinning, the SUV entered the eastbound lane where the front of the pickup crashed with the passenger’s side of the SUV.

The 40-year-old woman, from Orange Park, died at the scene, according to FHP.

The FHP report states that the 41-year-old driver from Jacksonville was not injured in the crash. The 39-year-old driver of the pickup truck, from Middleburg, suffered minor injuries.

The intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Yellow Water Road was shut down in all directions Monday morning for hours because of the crash, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

According to FHP, all lanes reopened around 9:30 a.m.
