Pedestrian critically injured in crash on I-95 in Duval County

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was critically injured Sunday evening after being struck by an SUV while standing on Interstate 95 in Duval County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 7:47 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 360.

FHP said a dark gray GMC SUV, driven by a 40-year-old man from Winter Springs, struck the pedestrian, who remains unidentified and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver was wearing a seat belt during the crash, and investigators have not indicated any signs of impairment.

Two lanes of I-95 northbound were closed as investigators worked to learn what led to the crash.

All lanes of I-95 northbound have since reopened.
