JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Main Street Bridge in downtown Jacksonville will close to traffic Sunday through Friday during the nights to install a temporary work platform.
The closures are a part of the Florida Department of Transportation's Main Street Bridge rehabilitation project.

Sunday and Wednesday the bridge will close at 9 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. the next morning.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the bridge will close at 6:30 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. the next morning.
Traffic will be detoured to the Acosta Bridge. Sidewalk access will be maintained at all times.
The mechanical, electrical and structural rehabilitation project includes replacement of several major mechanical components; however, an interim operating system will be installed to allow the bridge to remain operational while the mechanical work is completed.
The project also includes replacement of the entire electrical control system.
The mechanical and electrical components are essential to the operation of this movable bridge which occurs approximately 1400 times annually.
