JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Maintenance work on three Jacksonville bridges will begin this summer, the Florida Department of Transportation announced Friday.
Rehabilitation projects are scheduled for Dames Point Bridge and Hart Bridge, and work on the Ortega River Bridge has already begun.

Dames Point Bridge
The Dames Point rehabilitation project on Interstate 295 East includes work on the fender system, joints and shear lock mechanisms. The majority of the work will take place below the bridge, but some minor resurfacing will be done as well, FDOT said.
Construction is expected to begin in August and finish in summer 2017. The project will require single lane closures during the daytime and multiple lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Hart Bridge
Work to rehabilitate the Hart Bridge over the St. Johns River is scheduled to get underway in late July. FDOT said the work will involve wire rope replacement, coating of structural steel, drainage work and steel plate rehabilitation.
The work will require lane closures and detours during off-peak traffic hours.
The work is expected to be completed in fall 2017.
Ortega River Bridge
Preliminary work on the Ortega River Bridge on Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. 17) began earlier this month, FDOT said. The work involves repairs to the bridge superstructure and replacement of an adjacent fishing pier.
Work is scheduled to be completed by early 2018.
