Early voting is getting underway in some southeast Georgia counties ahead of the June 18 primary runoff election day.

Most of the races on the ballot in the May 21 primary were decided in that election, but in some cases, no candidate received a majority of the votes. In those cases, the top two candidates will be on the ballot for the June 18 runoff.

Georgia voters also have an option to cast a mail-in absentee ballot, but the request must be submitted by June 7.

The deadline to register to vote in the primary was May 20. Georgia does not register voters by party, so in the May primary, they could choose from a Democratic, Republican, or non-partisan ballot. However, if a voter chose a Democratic ballot in the May primary, they will not be able to choose a Republican ballot in the runoff, and vice-versa. Voters who did not vote in May or chose a non-partisan ballot are free to choose which ballot they want for the runoff.

In southeast Georgia, the runoff includes the Republican primary for State House District 180, which includes all of Camden County and a portion of Glynn County. Glynn, Ware, and Brantley County also have local offices that required a primary runoff. You can see which races and candidates are on the ballot in your area in our 2024 Georgia Voter’s Guide.

During early voting, registered voters can vote at any location in their county. On Election Day (June 18) voters who have not yet voted can only cast a ballot at their designated polling place, during the voting hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
