Janet O. McDonald

What do you see as the top three issues you’ll likely face while holding this office?

  • Establishing effective intergovernmental relations for revalued impact fee structure that protects ad valorum taxpayers, to support education and County core services; Recentering the legal department; Long-range planning by representatives who respect the taxpayers, natural assets, & are free of high-density bias.

How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot?

  • Over my 8 years on the School Board, I uniquely work for the needs of all students, residents & tax payers, not special interests. I am prepared for all issues and have demonstrated timely communication and responsive service during my 8 years as a School Board member. I applaud the beneficial programs and student opportunities that have begun during my years as I work for the best opportunities for all! I believe service to the community as a FC Commissioner is only directed to improved opportunities and service to others....leave it better than how you found it.

What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office?

  • ...that the culture of Flagler County was enhanced by responsible and ethical development, done with respect and care by protecting the natural and historical treasures that are unique to Flagler, in order to attract businesses and professionals who provide career opportunities for our graduates and make it the Best Small County in Florida with beaches on the east to farms and open spaces on the west, with unique Hammock and natural trails throughout...& guarantee a “Real Florida” feel.
