2024 Voter’s Guide: Florida House District 19

Districts after 2022 redistricting

This legislative district covers southeastern St. Johns County, including St. Augustine, and extends south, mostly east of U.S. 1, plus all of Flagler County.

Republican Paul Renner, who was first elected to the Florida House in 2015, can’t seek re-election due to term limits, so the seat is open this year.

  DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE
Adam Morley

Adam Morley

Occupation: Small business owner and boat captain

Age: 39

Family: Wife (Janine) and son (Elon)

Education: School of Hard Knocks.

Political experience: Served and serving on numerous local and statewide boards and advisory committees. Participates in citizen lobbying days in Tallahassee where we are routinely ignored. Very persistent candidate for State House 19.

What do you see as the top three issues in this race, and how do you plan to address them?

• Overdevelopment - get the state to work with local governments to better manage growth and protect our Quality of Life.

• Clean Water - it’s the lifeblood of our communities and the state’s economic driver. I will push to implement Governor DeSantis’ Task Force’s proposals to address our state’s water quality crisis

• Home Rule/local control - I will be a champion for Home Rule allowing communities to better and more efficiently address local issues without interference from the state and the special interests that are controlling the legislature.

How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot?

By staying engaged and responsive to my constituents and their concerns. Currently our Representatives are too comfortable and confident in their positions due favorably drawn districts and don’t feel the pressure of having to really listen to and address their constituents. Running as a democrat I will have a lot to prove in order to win a reelection. This means I will have to work harder for the people than anyone else in this race should I get elected

What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office?

Fulfilling my promise and sticking to my word by protecting our states waters, fighting for Home Rule, and stopping overdevelopment.

  REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE
Sam Greco

Sam Greco

Occupation: Navy JAG Officer (active duty 2019-2024, currently a drilling reservist).

Age: 32

Family: My wife, Elanda, and I got married last year.

Education: B.S. and J.D both from Georgetown University.

Political experience: I left active duty military service on January 31, 2024. This is my first experience in politics.

What do you see as the top three issues in this race, and how do you plan to address them?

Stop Illegal Immigration - Empower our law enforcement and end taxpayer benefits for illegal immigrants.

Lower Property Insurance - Stop frivolous lawsuits and fraud while bringing more insurers to the market.

Tax Relief - Work to pass and implement Amendment 5 to expand homestead exemptions to save homeowners money.

How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot?

I am proud to have served my country as a JAG officer in the United State Navy. In the military, I learned how to build teams that can accomplish missions and how to utilize limited resources effectively to satisfy competing priorities. My service also underscores for me the importance of taking care of those that take care of us. In that regard, I am proud to be endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police and the Police Benevolent Association.

What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office?

I am honored to be endorsed by outgoing Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, who currently represents this district. I pledge to continue his outstanding service of honest, principled conservative leadership.
