  REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES

Klynt Farmer

Occupation: Business owner at K. A. Farmer Septic

Age: 46

Family: I still live on the family homestead I grew up on with my love Celeste, my father Kenny and my sister Katie.

Education: Graduated from West Nassau High School and took over the family business.

Political experience: Assisted the Florida On-Site Wastewater Association in draft language of a deregulatory bill that passed in the Florida House.

What do you see as the top three issues in this race, and how do you plan to address them?

Growth: Managing growth continues to be a challenge we work on every day in Nassau County. Protecting the rights of private property owners while ensuring we are managing the development in our county is a top priority. We have to make sure that we are growing in a way that allows us to protect our natural resources.

Millage: During my time as county commissioner in District 5, we have reduced ad-valorem property taxes multiple times even while adding services to improve the lives of our constituents. We have new fire stations and better support for our law enforcement.

Reducing millage and increasing services at the same time is a difficult thing to do, especially at the speed of government. People like to say that government moves at a snail’s pace, but I like to think when we work together, we put sneakers on the snail, so he moves a little faster!

Conservation: We created the County Conservation Land Acquisition and Management program (CLAM) to preserve our natural resources for future generations in Nassau County. Protecting our natural resources is a top priority for the commission and the county.

How can you help voters in a way that others running for this office cannot?

All during my time in office and even during the campaign, I have demonstrated that I am accessible, transparent, and accountable to the needs of my constituents. When I roll out of bed in the morning and hit the ground, I am already working the phones responding to constituents and stay engaged with them until late at night when my head hits the pillow again.

What would you hope to be remembered for accomplishing after serving in this office?

I hope that I will be remembered for being a true public servant. I love Nassau County and just want to make it better for future generations.
