Columbia County voters face a question over the future of the Lake Shore Hospital Authority.
The authority, which was established in 1963, is a special-purpose, independent district with the purpose of overseeing maintenance and operation of the Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center in Lake City. However, the hospital closed in 2020, and county commissioners have been discussing the future of the property and the authority.

The referendum is a non-binding straw ballot. Any action to actually dissolve the authority would have to involve the state legislature, as the authority was established by the state.
