In January, the Starke City Commission voted to disband the city’s police department, and have its duties taken over by the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office. The officers gradually left the department, with some joining the Bradford CSO, some taking other jobs, and some retiring. The police chief was the last one left, retiring May 1. This proposed charter amendment would now adjust the charter accordingly.
As the City of Starke’s police department has been disbanded, shall the Charter be amended to remove any reference to the police department, chief of police, and their respective powers?
