JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is announcing the sixth annual Lionfish Removal and Awareness Festival Sept.12 and 13 at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar and HarborWalk Village in Destin.
Nonnative, invasive lionfish have infiltrated state waters and are negatively impacting Florida’s reefs and wildlife. These fish not only prey on native saltwater species, they also compete for food with economically important species such as grouper and snapper.
