Storms push inland breaking the heat

Some straggling showers push near the coast

Dark clouds west of Jacksonville helped to break the heat as showers and storms rolled on away from Jacksonville Tuesday afternoon. (.)

We have a spike in the total rain showers today but the activity will slow down this evening. A majority of afternoon storms press west away from Jacksonville with only a few isolated showers returning closer to the coast.

Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 77.

As drier air arrives in eastern counties overnight expect less rain coverage at the coast with better potential across interior counties for thunderstorms Thursday.

Other than a few coastal showers in the morning, the best chance for storms will target the I-75 corridor in the afternoon.

Afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along our sandy shores. Look for a 40-50% chance of rain.
