The Gulf has had all the waves so far this summer but the Atlantic’s first solid hurricane swell is likely to fill in a week from toay from soon to be Hurricane Larry.
First a weekend windswell will give north Florida some waves starting Friday, peaking Saturday, with cleaner and smaller Sunday waves. Waves in the waist to head high range. A cold front slips by Friday with the wind increase from the NE Saturday. The front washes out over central Florida so you may find less wind in Brevard county. Sunday lighter winds return around JAX.
The swell window opens to Larry Sunday with fetch pointed at us for several days in a row next week. This should time the swell here by Wednesday
Tuesday: Groundswell shows with clean small kneehigh 1-2′. Long waits between dinky sets.
Wednesday 16 second period increase through the day 2′ waist highs peak sets.
Thursday: Swell should be established lasting into Saturday before fading Sunday.
True size depends on the potential for Larry to rapidly intensify beyond Cat. 3 intensity or a possible westward shift closer to Bermuda.
