Cold snap expected Thanksgiving week

But it may not last for the feast

Morning temperatures in blue show freezing readings dipping into central Georgia Tuesday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thanksgiving week brings wild swings in temperatures.

A blast of polar air bottled up over Canada is set to break free diving toward Florida next week.

Many areas east of the Mississippi will be colder than average for Thanksgiving week.

The timing is scheduled to hit Tuesday, two days before Thanksgiving. Temperatures will reach the mid-30s over interior southern Georgia and upper 30 over north Florida. We will be watching to see if any freeze potential develops but at this point the elevated winds should keep temps above freezing.

Highs may only reach near 60 Tuesday behind the front but the chill is not expected to last for Thursday’s feast. A quick turnaround will send temp into the 70s by the end of the week. Southeasterly breezes provide a boost in warmth quickly.

While we won’t have a chilly fall feel for Thanksgiving Day, it will at least be rain-free!
