Storms get a later start, rumbles of thunder through the night

Unsettled pattern begins

Afternoon scattered showers and storms will track toward the metro areas from the Highway 301 corridor.

Storms will pick up through the evening with areas of heavy rain targeting Clay, southern Duval and Putnam counties. Most rain will be around I-95 and west of the interstate. Some storms will cover southern Georgia and last late into the night.

Areas along the coast will have better viewing for the 8:44 p.m. Falcon 9 rocket launch but clouds will make poor viewing for most areas.

Friday look for a 60% chance for scattered to numerous afternoon & evening storms. The sea breeze will keep most of the rain inland. This pattern will last each day through the weekend. High temperatures pull back into the upper 80s to 90 with lows in the lower 70s.
