Fishing for the silver kings

Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament forecast

.

The largest Kingfish tournament in the Southeast is back this week with a shortened one day tournament for mackerel on Friday. Both the pros and amateur anglers will be at Jim King Park & Boat Ramp at Sister Creek for the weigh-in Friday at 5:30 PM.

Fishing will begin Friday at 6:30 am under clear skies and a light SW wind. The rain is expected to hold off until around the late afternoon to early evening during the weigh in. Most of the storms will be very scattered inland during the day but some may work back to the rivermouth by the evening.

Conditions offshore will keep winds out of the SW around 10 kts with 2-3 seas inside the Gulf stream and up to 4′ beyond the western wall 86 miles offshore. The sea breeze will try and turn on between 12-1 pm.

Water temperatures are a few degrees warmer than average in the mid 80s so you will need to watch the water temperature charts for some cooler pockets.
