A new tropical depression formed Thursday in the far eastern Atlantic with no threat to land.

Tropical Depression 14 is expected to gradually strengthen into a hurricane. It is located about 160 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands and will never hit any land as a tropical cyclone.

It is moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph with 35 mph winds. When it gets named, it will be called Margot.
