Gulf Gale moves in Saturday

Heavy rain on the way

.

The morning starts with clouds and just a brief light shower but not much rain early Saturday. The rain will move up from central Florida during the mid-late morning hours impacting areas south of Green Cove Springs to St. Augustine. Once the rain starts it won’t finish until Sunday morning.

Rain becomes steady Saturday afternoon with heavy amounts of 2-4 inches falling overnight. Some hotspots may get 5 inches.

Winds will gust over 40 mph along the coast overnight and could reach that high inland out toward I-75 on Sunday.

I see no big risk for tornadoes or severe weather but falling trees in soaked soil may be the biggest weather risk tomorrow night.

Models show the rain ending midday Sunday with cloudy and breezy 20 mph NW winds for the cold Jags game in the upper 50s Sunday night.
