Freezing Temperatures and Frost for the 1st Day of Winter

Rain returns for Christmas

. (.)

High pressure and a weakening front over the coastal waters will allow a decrease in cloud coverage this evening. Temperatures will fall to around freezing, generally north of I-10.  Lighter wind tonight with frost is expected across SE GA and near and along I-10 for NE FL.

A Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory through 8 a.m. Thursday, which is also the first day of Winter.  Near seasonal to above seasonal temperatures expected Friday with increasing rain chances for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Now:  Chilly, breezy.

Tonight:  Clearing skies with a Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory through 8 am.

Thursday:  You will need layers as a Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory will start the day and a light breeze means a morning windchill.  Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with a brisk breeze.  Morning lows in the upper 20s to 30 for SE GA, upper 30s to 40s for NE FL with 40s and 50s along our sandy shores.  Wind NNE 10-15 mph, gusting to 20.  Mostly clear and chilly overnight with patchy frost possible for SE GA.

Hazards:  Freeze Warning 2 a.m. - 8 a.m.  Frost Advisory 1 a.m. - 8 a.m.  High Risk of Rip Currents.

Looking ahead:  Warmer Friday and this weekend with rain returning Christmas day.

Sunrise:  7:19 am
