Sunscreen and sunglasses, it’s weekend time

Opening of the Beaches

. (.)

From the sandy shores to the red clay roads and rivers in between, it is going to be a great weekend. As the breeze increases, maybe some Open Window Weather too.

The weekend outlook: Get ready for increasing onshore wind, slightly cooler temperatures under partly cloudy skies. The forecast remains dry aside from a stray coastal shower, 10 percent. Morning lows will be warm for the season, but afternoon highs remain close to late April averages.

Expect to see Red Flags flying on the beaches this weekend. The Opening of the Beaches and our local surf breaks will have a High Risk of Rip Currents through the weekend as the wind builds in from the east-southeast at 15-20 mph and stronger gusts.

Sneeze Hazards: Pollen count remains elevated with Hickory and Pecan joining the trees trying to make you sneeze. Trees - High. Grass - None. Weeds - Low.

Have a safe and happy weekend.
