Tornado Watch expires for SE GA, NE FL

Tornado Watches have expired for NE FL and SE GA.

Strong to severe storms will remain possible for Nassau and Camden counties through 1 a.m. Frequent lightning strikes, locally heavy rain and strong wind gusts will accompany the storms as the head toward the beaches.

THunderstorms near the panhandle will weaken as they approach I-75.

Scattered showers with isolated storms will continue Saturday with locally heavy rainfall possible from Waycross, GA (Ware County) and west to I-75. Showers and storms are expected Sunday although coverage will be limited and lighter compared to Saturday.

Saturday will continue with soaking storms that will start before sunrise for SE GA, generally north of Waycross, and then spread south around sunrise. Heavier storms, some strong to severe will move across SE GA around noon through around 3 p.m. The scattered activity will weaken and move south as it dissipates across NE FL. A warm start with lows in the 70s. Afternoon highs in the 80s for SE GA, 80s to low 90s for NE FL. Rain chances SE GA, 80 percent, NE FL 30 percent.

We are not done yet as Sunday will bring scattered showers with storms for NE FL and SE GA. Rain chances will start late Saturday night through early Sunday with most clearing the area around sunrise, 70 percent. Afternoon showers with storms will be possible from Highway 301 to the Beaches through early evening, 30 percent. Another warm morning with lows in the 70s, afternoon highs in the 80s.

Looking ahead: A little cooler to start the week following the cold front. Afternoon highs will rebound through the week.
