We are in the first month of hurricane season and we are watching three potential areas of development.
The most notable is Potential Tropical Cyclone One in the Bay of Campeche which could become a Tropical Storm Wednesday.
The low-pressure area has an 80 percent chance of becoming a Tropical Storm. As the low deepens, locally heavy and flooding rainfall will be possible across Mexico and along the Gulf Coast of Texas. A storm surge of 1 - 3 feet with some areas as high as 6 feet will be possible for coastal Texas.
There is another area of low pressure trying to form in the same region as PTC One. Weather conditions could allow for further development of this system while it moves slowly northward or northwestward. Formation chance through 48 hours is 0%. Formation chance through 7 days is 30%.

The third area we are watching is east of the Bahamas. Conditions could allow for slow development during the next few days while it moves westward or west-northwestward. Chances for development are 10 percent for 2 days and 20 percent for the next 7 days.
With the help of high pressure to our north, the developing low will aid in some coastal showers this week. Aside from some much needed rainfall, these areas of low pressure do not pose a danger to NE FL or SE GA.
