System headed toward Jacksonville weakens, brings much needed rain

The low is about 40 miles offshore

Tropics

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At 8 p.m., the National Hurricane Center said Invest 92L was about 40 miles east-southeast of Brunswick, Georgia.

Air Force Reserve reconnaissance from earlier today showed that the low-pressure system had winds up to 35 mph bringing it very close to becoming a Tropical Depression.

There is a 40% chance of the system forming into a tropical depression over the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, showers will continue across our coastal counties with the possibility of heavy downpours and gusty winds at times.

The biggest hazards are along our coastline where a High Surf Advisory remains in effect along with a high rip current risk.
