Summertime weather pattern kicks off the first week of summer, last week of June

Sunday highs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Typical summer pattern of afternoon showers, thunderstorms returns Sunday along with the heat index of over 100.

Temperatures will move into the mid-to-upper 90s, feeling like 100-105.

Remember, if you’re prone to overheating, be sure to limit your time outdoors, stay hydrated with water/electrolytes, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing. The heat index will be close to heat advisory levels (>108) early in the week.

Rain is in the forecast every day this week due to summertime heating and sea breeze convergence in the afternoon. Heavy downpours and gusty winds are associated with thunderstorms.

Great news: nothing brewing in the tropics! Temperatures at the beaches will stay in the lower 90s with a SW breeze. Moderate rip current risk today.
