Increasing chances for development

Increasing chances in the Atlantic. The area of low pressure, AL95, located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorm activity. A tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form this weekend several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands while the system moves west at 15 to 20 mph.

The chance of formation through 48 hours has increased to 70% and formation chances through 7 days are now at 90%.

The other area we are monitoring is in the Caribbean Sea, AL94. This broad area of low pressure over Caribbean waters is producing widespread, but disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity. The low is moving west-northwestward at around 15 mph and further development of this system is possible.

Formation chance through 48 hours is low at 20% and they have only increased to 30% for the next 7 days.
