The tropics continue to rev up with Tropical Depression Chris, a potential system just south of Hurricane Beryl, and of course the Category 4 Hurricane, Beryl.
Typically, we wouldn’t see a Hurricane until August, and a major Hurricane wouldn’t be until September, but it’s revving up to be a busy season.
The last time we saw a hurricane of this magnitude this early was Hurricane Dennis back on July 8th of 2005. Beryl has beaten that record as the earliest CAT 4 Hurricane on record.
As I take a look at the Forecast track, this storm is expected to move across the Caribbean through mid-week, and then the Yucatan Peninsula through the end of the week all before ending up in the Gulf of Mexico.
Another system that could develop is not far behind Hurrican Beryl, and COULD develop and head toward the Winward Islands. There is a 60% chance of development over the next 7 days. Our team of Meteorologists has all eyes on the Tropics and will keep you updated.
Here at home, highs are in the 90′s, with a heat index in the triple digits.
Expect showers and storms across some parts of the viewing area throughout parts of the afternoon and evening.
