Showers taper off, muggy evening ahead

Heavy rains along US301, heat index still a factor

Saturday Evening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Heavy rain along US301 will start to taper off, staying west of I-95 corridor due to the Atlantic seabreeze pushing inland. High temperatures remain throughout the evening with the Heat Advisory for our western counties is set to expire at 7 p.m.

Temperatures will drop into the mid-to-upper 70s overnight. The cold front over Georgia continues to stall bringing more moisture to the area tomorrow and keeping temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s, slightly cooler than Saturday. We’re not expecting a Heat Advisory to be issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday.

Summertime normals return on Monday, with highs staying around 90. Rain chances continue in the afternoon.

We’re watching the tropics, too. Beryl is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane late Sunday. Landfall north of Corpus Christi is likely Monday afternoon.
