Storms bring cooling downpours breaking the heat

Flash flooding possible Tuesday

Storms and rain shifts inland tonight.

Temps dropped over 20 degrees after reaching 97 this afternoon as heavy rain brought relief in the heat.

Slow storms have resulted in localized flooding with rain rates over 2 inches an hour during the afternoon. As storms fade lighter rain lingers well into the evening with isolated interior thunderstorms toward I-75.

Tomorrow will be like today with an 80% chance of rain developing after 1 pm. Expect high coverage almost everywhere with storms building back to the beaches. Highs will reach the low to mid 90s Tuesday with no cool down until it rains.

Rain forecast Tuesday evening.

A stalled surface front will linger across Georgia through mid-week keeping the moisture flowing in without any big break in the rainy pattern through the weekend. Highs stay in the mid 90s with the potential for 2-4 inches of widespread rain during the week.
