Rain returns Wednesday with some heavy showers locally

Soaking afternoon storms

. (.)

Showers with areas of light rain continue to wind down for the night. These will end around midnight.

The soggy and hot pattern will continue for the next several days as the wind switches to more of a westerly flow. If you have been wondering where all of this rain is coming from, Mark Collins has a great article breaking down our soggy forecast: Why has the rain been so heavy?

Now: Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with showers and light rain.

Tonight: Cloudy as showers end.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy skies will become cloudy as scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms develop along the sea breeze, 50-80 percent. Lows in the 70s to low 80s. Afternoon highs in the 90s inland upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Wind W/SW 5-10 mph.

Looking ahead: Rounds of rain will ride the Gulf Coast sea breeze from coast to coast.

Tropics: Quiet...for now

Sunrise: 6:33 a.m.

Sunset: 8:32 p.m.
