Rainfall in July- Where are we at?

. (National Weather Service)

Rainfall Totals for July in Jacksonville, Florida were above average. From where we stand today, we’ve seen an average of 7 inches of rain, compared to the normal range of around 5 inches. The record amount of rain was set back in 1960, with an average of 14 inches.

In its entirety, July brought such a mix of weather to us here in Jacksonville- lots of sunshine, and showers combined. Each part of the City got different amounts of rain- so while totals vary, one thing is for sure- we needed the rain and we got it.

The particular weather pattern, sunshine in the morning and showers and storms in the afternoon is very typical for this time of year! If you’re from Jacksonville, you know that.

Looking into this, I want to note that the Southside as well as Mandarin saw close to 9 inches for the month of July! WOW!

Your yards desperately needed this rain, but we also saw localized flooding (I know my neighborhood got it’s fair share of flooded roadways!)

Looking ahead as we cruise right into August (time FLIES!) YOU can expect the pattern of afternoon showers and storms to continue.

With the peak of hurricane season approaching, PLEASE stay vigilant and prepare NOW for the potential impacts of the Tropics.
