More clouds, less heat on the last Sunday of July

Sunday highs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville could break the at/or above 90+ high temperatures today as cloud coverage and widespread rain will take over Northeast Florida. Rainy conditions will start before noon and last throughout the day. Could see heavy downpours, gusty winds, and localized flooding, especially in areas that received significant rain over the past few days. Showers and storms will clear out by sunset. Southeast Georgia will remain mostly dry.

Monday’s conditions will be much drier with more sunshine and temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s.

The National Hurricane Center is following an area of disturbed weather over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean that will likely interact with an approaching tropical wave over the next few days. At this time, any cyclone development isn’t expected over the next 48 hours; in the next seven days, there’s a 40% chance. We’ll continue to monitor this development.
