The latest updates on tropical weather and your Thursday forecast

Starting later into tomorrow, south Florida can expect heavy rain to begin moving in.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Good Afternoon!

Here locally, it’s the same pattern. We have highs in the 90s with “feels-like temperatures” in the triple digits. Showers and storms are possible into this afternoon for some, but not all of you.

Here’s your Noon Tropical Update:

Per the National Hurricane Center:

2 Days- 20% chance of development

7 Days: 60% chance of development

If this potential tropical system forms, it will be named Debby.

As of my last check, the EUROPEAN model was actually trending a little more east earlier today, meaning there would have been impacts toward Central Florida. NOW, however, the EUROPEAN model is trending more west- this means that the Gulf is most likely where impacts will take place as far as heavy downpours are concerned.

It’s worth noting that sea surface temps are very much warmer than any other area in the Atlantic right now.

This will greatly play into the potential development of this storm.

Please be aware that there WILL be changes in this forecast between now and Sunday.

I believe an intensifying tropical system is possible in the Eastern Gulf from Sunday to Monday.

Another issue that pops in is the fact that stalling may be an issue with this potential system, and that would lead to a prolonged pieroid of precipitation, lasting well into next week.

What i’m saying is this: models were not as strong in determining where this potential storm would go, but now were gaining a better idea of it’s potential path. We need to keep a close eye on any tropical developments in the Gulf of Mexico into this weekend.
