As far as the tropics is concerned, the National Hurricane Center has this potential system at a 60% chance for development over the next 2 days, and an 90% chance of development over the next 7 days as it continues to move toward the Gulf.
Models have trended much further west than where we were previously, and so all eyes are on the Gulf as we wait and see if this storm strengthens enough to become named, If so, it will be named Debby.
Development or not, we’re in for a lot of rain this weekend.
Tropical downpours will begin Saturday, but get much heavier Sunday into Tuesday.
It’s highly likely that flash flooding could occur with these tropical downpours, but that’s all dependent on where this system ends up tracking.
According to the National Hurricane Center, once this system is over water, conditions for development are MUCH more favorable.
