Afternoon storms move through Southern counties, Northeast Florida

90 percent chances for storm to develop in tropics

Dangerous feels-like temperatures between 105 and 112 degrees Fahrenheit, remains until just before sunset, for all of Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida.

Storms with heavy downpours will continue in Putnam, Flagler, and part of St. Johns counties until after sunset.

Light rain will be triggered by the sea breeze for coastal counties of SE Georgia through the afternoon, with little to no local impact.

From Flagler County, Florida, to Glynn County, Georgia, light rain is possible for the evening.

Temperatures will remain in the 80s overnight with cloudy skies and no rain in the early morning hours.

LOOKING AHEAD:

Fog will be possible in the early morning hours from Sunday through Friday.

Sunday morning humidity remains with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 70s before shifting to the 80s and peaking into the low 90s. It will be windy also the coast and the late afternoon. Rain chances will be from 3 to 8 pm.

Humid hot days, with rainy afternoons will continue into the work week with a slight loss in humidity as winds shift toward next weekend.

TRACKING THE TROPICS:

A tropical depression could develop between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Currently referred to at AL98, it is producing a disturbance of rain and thunderstorms. The current location is near Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles. The disturbance is moving west to west and northeast with speeds between 15 and 20 miles per hour.

Formation into a tropical depression is likely by 50 percent in the next two days and highly likely by 90 percent in the next seven days as of August 10th.
