All eyes are back on the Atlantic as another tropical cyclone is immenient

NHC: 90% formation chance through next 7 days

Tropical Weather Outlook 8/11/24

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Ocean is swirling again in nearly the same spot as the last few named storms. Hurricanes Beryl and Debby both started as tropical waves before developing into damaging storms which hit the U.S. so far this hurricane season.

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC): Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next few days while it moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 kt across the central tropical Atlantic.

Early models show the wave developing into a named storm, Ernesto, before moving towards Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic mid-week. Models then show the cyclone taking a turn to the northeast, staying in the mid-Atlantic later in the week. We’ll continue to follow this developing wave.
