High heat & humidity prompting Sunday heat advisory for Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia

Sunday heat advisory locations

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Another hot one...a heat advisory has been issued for most of our NE FL and SE GA counties beginning at 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; high humidity will have us feeling like up to 111 in some areas.

Isolated to scattered showers this afternoon, with a few thunderstorms possible which could cause heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Highs in the mid-90s, lows in the mid-70s.

Dry conditions, mid-70s under mostly clear skies in the morning for the first day of school. Temperatures will warm up into the mid-90s by dismissal.

From the National Hurricane Center: the tropical wave is currently located roughly midway between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next few days while it moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the central tropical Atlantic. A tropical depression is likely to form by the early part of this week while the system approaches and then moves near or over the Lesser Antilles.
