JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The frontal system that’s been hanging out over our region won’t move on and will continue to keep us wet on Saturday into Sunday.
After heavy rainfall across most of Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida on Friday, the overnight hours provided heavy downpours and thunderstorms along the coast with over 5″ of accumulation before 6 a.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for areas that are experiencing flooding conditions through 9:00 a.m. as the water needs to drain in urban areas that have already seen several inches over the past few days. Be aware of pooling water on the roadways and if you encounter an area that’s underwater, turn around, don’t drown.
The sun will attempt to pop through the clouds on and off throughout the day, but mostly cloudy skies will keep temperatures at/around the upper 80s to low 90s. The afternoon heat will aid shower activity west of I-95 before they drift back to the east later this evening. Gusty winds at times up to 20mph can be expected, as well.
