JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The stalled front will continue to cause localized flooding throughout Sunday, but the shower activity will start to diminish.
Winds will be a bit blustery in the 15 mph range with gusts up to 20 mph. Afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms will flare up with the heat of the day staying mostly south of the Florida/Georgia border.
The National Weather Service is reporting over 3″ of rain since midnight at Craig Airfield, breaking the daily record of 1.55″ set in 2022. Additionally, with one week to go, August 2024 reached the top 10 of wettest Augusts on record and the wettest since Tropical Storm Fay in 2008 with 11.24″ recorded so far at Jacksonville International Airport.
A Flood Watch remains in place until 8 p.m. Sunday night for the following areas: Including the cities of Woodbine, Tarboro, Colesburg, Riverside, St. Simons, Jacksonville, Waverly, Dover Bluff, Jekyll Island, Dungeness, Yulee, Amelia City, Ratliff, Sea Island, Arlington, San Marco, Oceanway, Glynn Haven, Normandy, Bryceville, Ortega, Kingsland, Kings Ferry, Thalmann, Dock Junction, Fernandina Beach, Hilliard, Tallyrand, and Country Club Estate.
Sunday afternoon temperatures will rise into the upper 80, low 90s. Sunday overnight temperatures into Monday morning will bottom out in the low-to-mid 70s with some showers lingering near sunrise just before 7 a.m.
